Artist Biography
James D Wilson’s paintings explore landscape as something experienced in motion rather than from a fixed viewpoint. Drawing on fragmented observations gathered while walking or travelling by train, he reconstructs these moments in the studio through gestural marks, shifting perspectives and disrupted edges. The resulting works evoke terrain, paths and horizons while retaining a sense of movement, transition and the fleeting experience of passing through a place.
