Nessie Ramm
Artist Biography
Nessie Ramm is on a mission to paint the road verges of Britain, to bring the wild beauty and value of these unloved spaces to our attention. Her work is a celebration of the plants, insects and birds that flourish there and also a deeper call to re-evaluate our relationship with the natural world.
Nessie is the winner of the NEAC Climate Emergency Prize 2025. During 2025 she made a series of paintings sitting by the side of the A21 using metal panels crafted from old road signs. She lives and works in East Sussex where she also leads a community group which is reintroducing wildflowers into local road verges.
