TAXI DRIVER

We’re pleased to present TAXI DRIVER, a new open call in collaboration with @terrace_gallery

‘Taxi Driver’ is an open call inviting artists to respond to the atmosphere, psychology and visual language of the city after dark.

Presented to mark the 50th anniversary of Martin Scorsese’s seminal 1976 film, this exhibition takes inspiration from the neon-lit streets, restless energy and sense of urban isolation that have made Taxi Driver one of the most influential cultural works of the last half-century.

Opening as a pop-up at Terrace Gallery in London, followed by a week-long exhibition Auto Amor HQ in Sevenoaks, the exhibition seeks contemporary responses to the city as a place of movement, anonymity, desire, alienation and transformation.

The film’s imagery draws from a rich artistic lineage, from Edward Hopper’s solitary nocturnal scenes. Nearly fifty years after its release, Taxi Driver continues to resonate across art, photography, fashion, film and popular culture, inspiring ongoing conversations around identity, masculinity, performance and the experience of modern city life.

While the exhibition is rooted in the idea of the urban landscape, we welcome responses across all disciplines and approaches. Whether your work explores architecture, nightlife, memory, psychology, portraiture, abstraction, cinematic imagery, contemporary city culture or the experience of navigating public space, we would like to see it.
